Downed power lines cause major LIRR problems

Some live power lines fell on train tracks on Long Island, causing service disruptions on the Long Island Rail Road on Monday.

The dangerous scenario in Hicksville caused delays on all lines and suspended service in both directions between Mineola and Hicksville for several hours, the LIRR said.

Just after 10 p.m., the LIRR said via Twitter: "PSEGLI crews have secured and removed the downed power lines in Hicksville. We are experiencing scattered 10-15 minute delays but we anticipate that these delays will continue to subside. Thank you for your patience."
