LIRR service restored after train derailment in Queens

- Long Island Rail Road service on the Port Washington Branch has been restored after a train derailment in Sunnyside, Queens, Wednesday afternoon caused suspensions, delays, and cancellations in both directions. The train had two derailed axles, according to the MTA.

The MTA updated service changes:

We are in the process of restoring normal service on the Port Washington Branch following an earlier derailment. The first eastbound through train to Port Washington is the 5:14 PM train from Penn to Great Neck which will be extended to Port Washington tonight. The first westbound train will depart Port Washington at 5:23PM (arriving Penn at 6:00PM) "
