LIRR delays, cancellations

NEW YORK (AP) — The Long Island Rail Road is experiencing delays and cancellations because of reduced access to the East River tunnels.

Officials said commuters should also expect some delays and cancellations during the Friday evening rush because the railroad is only using three of the four East River tunnels.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority police officers have also temporarily restricted access into Penn Station due to heavier than normal crowding.

Westbound train service between Jamaica and Penn Station resumed around 7 p.m. It had been suspended earlier in the evening.
