With all of the election news last week you may have missed the revelation about the mayor of Emerald City a.k.a. Bill de Blasio.

The Wall Street Journal pulled back the curtain and revealed the mystery surrounding the mayor's Friday afternoon hideout.

Many of you know that I have been critical of de Blasio's work ethic and daily schedule. But the Friday routine of this Tin Man will really set the Scarecrow's hair on fire.

After sleeping in late at the mansion, taking his caravan on  a 12-mile ride to the gym, barely breaking a sweat and finishing up around 10 or 11 a.m., The Wizard can be found somewhere over the rainbow at bar Toto in Park Slope.

From January to June of this year the mayor submitted 32 expense receipts from the restaurant where he has the courage to spend hours on many Fridays making calls to raise money for his re-election and dining on chicken Milanese.

However, as the paper points out, de Blasio's aides are "worried the public will be dismayed that he is there for such lengthy periods, particularly amid some criticism over his daily workouts at the YMCA and questions about his work ethic."

You don't need to follow the yellow brick road to know where this story is going to end and flying monkeys  will not make you believe that this mayor is in tune with everyday New Yorkers.

Here's wishing that someone competent will challenge him, put on the ruby slippers, click the heels three times and say there's no place like home and hope this has all been a bad dream.
