Welcome to the Lap of Luxury. This week we visit Demner Miletto, a private jewelry salon on the Upper East Side, where you can view their exquisite pieces by appointment only.

Demner Miletto opened just a year ago, named for Natascha Demnner and her dear friend Antonia Miletto. They met at Demner's gallery on Madison Avenue, a family business for more than 20 years. Demner says Miletto walked in one day and they fell in love. She loved Miletto's jewelry; very special and unusual things carved out of wood with precious stones.

The two joined forces in 2015, selling beautiful handmade jewels, most of them by Italian designers. But don't expect to see your typical diamonds here. Demner says they look for impeccable craftsmanship. Nothing in their salon is made in China or mass produced. Everything is made by hand, whether vintage or modern. Each piece is special. You won't find two that are the same.

Among their favorite designers: Hedy Martinelli from Rome. Demner describes the brand as three generations of women working together who make things out of really unusual materials. They take the mesh from antique silver handbags and use it to make incredible bracelets and jewels, adding gemstones, plating, reworking and distressing it. The Hedy Martinelli bracelet in this piece-silver mesh, diamonds, ruby beads, and 18K gold costs $13,000.

Another designer Demner loves: Alessandro Palwer of Venice. He works with wonderful and unusual materials and employs fantastic craftsmen, that Demner says, you'll only find in Italy. The Palwer Venice earrings at the salon: made with gray pearl, white gold, and diamonds have a price tag of $13,500.

And last but not least, Antonia Miletto. She uses exotic woods, hand-carved by Italian craftsmen. She then adds accents of precious stones and gold so they become light, interesting, sculptural jewels. We featured three Antonia Miletto bracelets, made with cocobolo and brown diamonds, ebony and white diamonds, and Macassar wood with gold. They run from $4,200 to $13,000.

The Robb Report selected pieces from both Venetian designers, Palwer and Miletto, to grace the jewelry section of their La Dolce Vita issue, impressed with the designers originality and style.

Jill Newman, executive editor of style for the Robb Report, says they were so excited to work with Demner Miletto because of all of the amazing discoveries in the salon. She says Demner and Miletto curate a beautiful collection, with just three to four special and unique designers.

Demner says they are always keeping their eyes open and ears to the ground to find new wonderful things. She compares finding the right jewelry to romance. You see it and you fall in love at first sight. As with real love, you just know. With jewelry, that's how they know too.
