NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A Connecticut man accused of killing one woman and raping another he met on dating websites may have had more victims, according to the NYPD and there are concerns he might be a serial killer.
Daneul Drayton, 27, of New Haven, is accused in the murder of a woman in Queens and the rape of another in Brooklyn. He was arrested at a home in North Hollywood, California on Tuesday where he was found with a woman who was bound and sexually assaulted after the pair had gone on a date, according to police.
"The common denominator in these two cases — one being a murder and one being a rape — is dating websites,” Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.
Police did not disclose which dating websites Drayton may have used but said it was several of them.
Last week, the body of nurse Samantha Stewart, 29, of Jamaica, Queens was found strangled inside her home. A DNA match connected the strangling to an earlier rape case and that then led cops to Drayton, according to Fox 5 News.
Drayton faces murder and rape charges in New York. He remains in California as authorities work to extradite him.
The NYPD is urging anyone who may have been assaulted by Drayton to call the Rape Hotline 212-267-RAPE. The NYPD says all calls are confidential.
