Instagram tests out shopping feature

Instagram is trying to streamline the social media shopping experience.

More changes coming to Instagram- soon, you'll be able to use the app to go shopping.

Instagram is testing out a new feature. You'll be able to buy products from 20 companies including J. Crew, Warby Parker, Kate Spade and Jack Threads. By clicking on a tap to view products button, you would see a white box pop up with the products description and price. That way you would be able to buy it without ever leaving the app.

Mark DiMassimo, CEO of DiMassimo Goldstein said, “In the past, you could buy things through your Instagram feed, but it was from all kinds of services. It wasn't necessarily a great experience, and it was not always the best marketers."

The rollout doesn't happen until mid-November, and only launches to select IOS users. Eventually, Instagram wants to expand the tags to videos and add a “save” button where you can bookmark products you like.

"I think the way I look at it is if you were a brand, you want to sell directly but you also need outlets where you can sell socially through Instagram. If Instagram is your platform, you want to sell other people's products. Whichever sells the best, you make money," said DiMassimo

This allows users to buy things through their app is certainly Facebook and now Instagram’s way of taking a bite out of Amazon.
