Horrific crash on Gowanus Expressway

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A man who was trapped in his vehicle following a horrific crash on the Gowanus Expressway Thursday morning was extricated by firefighters and was able to get up and walk out of the vehicle.

A tractor-trailer was partially on top of the red Toyota near 86th St. in Bay Ride, Brooklyn.

Another vehicle landed upright.

Four people were injured in the four-vehicle collision on the westbound lanes, said fire officials.

One person was seriously injured, two suffered minor injuries and one refused medical attention.

It is not clear what caused the crash that occurred at about 6:30 a.m.
