Woman says Harvey Weinstein assaulted her in NYC

- So far at least 40 women have come forward to accuse movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct over a period of decades. Now yet another woman is speaking out. The abuse she describes is especially disturbing.

With her attorney Gloria Allred at her side, former production assistant Mimi Hayleyi described an alleged sexual assault that happened inside Weinstein's New York home a couple of years after she said she rebuffed his advances and accepted a job. Hayleyi said she decided to come forward to support all the other women who have already done so.

Allred said Hayleyi is one of many women she represents who are making serious allegations against Weinstein. She said she will seek resolution with Weinstein and his legal team after he returns from rehab.

As the number of women accusers continues to grow, attorney Eric Sanders said that keeping perspective is important. These are allegations made in statements, he said.

Allred said Hayleyi was in her 20s at the time of the alleged attack in 2006 and would not comment on whether she had any contact with Weinstein after that. She did not go to police.

When asked about evidence, Allred replied, "A woman's word is also evidence and shouldn't be ignored."

Through his spokesperson, Weinstein has denied any allegations of nonconsensual sex, but police departments in London, Los Angeles, and New York are currently investigating, as is the New York attorney general.
