Students at Gwynedd-Mercy Academy Elementary formed a Living Breast Cancer Ribbon in honor of a longtime 5th grade teacher.

According to a press release, in conjunction with the school’s annual Breast Cancer Dress Down Day, all students and teachers formed a living pink ribbon in the parking lot of the school. The event was put on in honor of one of their 5th grade teachers who is on medical leave.

Funds raised from the $1.00 per student or teacher Dress Down Day will be donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer.

The 8th grade honors algebra class designed the structure of the ribbon, determining the average size of a kindergarten, 4th grade, and 8th grade student and factored in how many students were in each grade.
