With only a few months left in office, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will soon need a new job. But he is not interested in being President Trump's so-called drug czar.

Christie has been very outspoken about the dangers of opioid abuse and has appeared in television public service announcements to promote treatment for addiction. He also served as the head of Trump's task force on drugs.

But during an exclusive interview with Good Day New York co-hosts Lori Stokes and Rosanna Scotto, Christie said he does not want to be director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.

Why not?

"Because, one, I've done 16 years of public service," Christie said. "And I think I can do a lot from the outside."

Earlier this month, Rep. Tom Marino, R-Pa., withdrew as the drug czar nominee following reports that he helped write a law that changed the DEA's ability to freeze narcotic shipments from drug makers.
