NEW YORK (AP) — The New York City Housing Authority says a manhole has been covered with plywood after a 6-year-old girl fell down the snow-covered hole.
Authorities say Kalima Crawford was walking Saturday afternoon in the Bronx when she fell.
The girl fell about 8 feet and had icy water up to her waist.
Public housing authorities say the manhole cover seems to have been moved. The agency plans to hire a contractor to install a fence around it as early as Tuesday.
Crawford only suffered a slight wound to her forehead.
Burrell's attorney says the agency didn't maintain the property and pathways as required by law.
