Giants QB Kyle Lauletta arrested in New Jersey

- With the way Eli Manning and the New York Giants are playing lately, backup quarterback Kyle Lauletta was looking at a shot to start for the team. As he headed to practice in East Rutherford Tuesday morning he instead ended up at the Weehawken Police Department under arrest.

He now faces a string of charges.

Lauletta had nothing to say as he left the police station hours later. He is accused of ignoring directions and nearly running over a police officer at about 8 a.m.

The fourth-round draft pick was trying to turn from the wrong lane to get to Route 495 at rush hour, police said. A cop directed him to keep going straight. Instead, Lauletta allegedly made the turn and nearly ran over the cop directing traffic, police said.

Another police officer pulled Lauletta over at the end of the ramp. He then allegedly refused to put down the window or step out of the vehicle, according to reports.

"We were made aware of the situation this morning, and we have been in contact with Kyle," Giants coach Pat Shurmur said in a statement. "We are still in the process of gathering information. This is obviously very disappointing."
