With widespread record level flooding causing severe damage throughout Louisiana, Red Cross of Georgia is deploying disaster teams from across the state to the impacted areas.

Teams will provide help, hope and emotional support to families overwhelmed by the flooding and devastation.

A typical deployment to a large scale disaster is 14 days.

Red Cross volunteers Donna Anderson and Amanda Brown will drive to Louisiana in an emergency response vehicle, traveling to the neighborhoods in need providing food, water and comfort to residents forced out of their homes.

Anderson is a long time Red Cross volunteer who dispatches disaster action team members to fires in Metro Atlanta. This time she is being dispatched to the flood zone. Brown is no stranger to large scale relief operations after deploying to Madisonville, Louisiana in March when flood waters plagued the state.
