Wealthier homes have more bugs

You know what they say: more guest rooms, more house guests. Do they say that? We don’t know but new research shows that homes in wealthier areas harbor more bugs than homes in poorer areas.

Wealthier homes contain up to 200 different species of flies, spiders, beetles and ants. The majority are not pests but dust mites and book lice were also common.

Apparently richer neighborhoods are more biologically diverse in plants, birds, bats and lizards, largely due to their many gardens and parks.

This overturns the general perception that homes in poorer neighborhood host more “house guests.”

So it seems the main cause of the “luxury effect” is the greater number of plants and flowers, which is linked to the average wealth of a neighborhood because rich people have more money to spend on gardening.

So i guess it really is true, more money more problems. Or at least, more money more bugs.
