Florida kids perform 5,000 acts of kindness in 15 days for class project

Small acts of kindness can go a long way, but it’s the kindness from some small people that is sure to make you smile.

Students at Gorrie Elementary School in Tampa, Florida were given a presentation by the Think Kindness Organization, whose mission is to inspire measurable acts of kindness in schools and communities around the world.

And inspire they did. The children are doing 5,000 acts of kindness in 15 days.

In just one week, the 579 students have done more than 3,000 acts of kindness

“It's crazy to see just how many wonderful things that they have done. Just because it’s the right thing to do,” teacher Jennifer Moon told FOX 13.

They’re being kind and courteous to each other and their teachers, from sticky notes with inspirational messages to compliments to their classmates.

“We've been complimenting people whether what they have done how they are cooperating are what they're wearing," said student Ayrton Wilson.

The challenge is part of the school’s theme, “Kind is Cool.” The school hopes the atmosphere kindness creates will make for a better learning environment.

"Treating each other and adults with respect; then we will spend more time educating children and learning more things to make us more successful in life," Gorrie Elementary School Principal Marjorie Sandler said.
