Mother of Parkland victim fights for safer schools

Lori Alhadeff lost her 14-year-old daughter Alyssa in the massacre at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. She recently started a foundation called Make Schools Safe Inc.

The mission of the foundation "is to make schools safe for all, especially the students attending school," according to its website.

Alhadeff and Aly Sheehy, a senior at the school, came to Fox 5 News to talk about what they plan to do carry out that mission by promoting safety measures, educating other schools, issuing grants to schools, and offering scholarships.

They are going around the country to raise awareness and funds for their cause. They hope the hashtag #MakeSchoolsSafe will help spread the message on social media.
