A dinner party got quite a surprise when a flaming dish set off the sprinkler system soaking everyone in the immediate vicinity.

James Hughes posted the video of the dining downpour at Cava Mezze in Baltimore.

The staff brought out several plates of the Greek cheese dish, saganaki, set aflame for an impressive effect to everyone's delight, but the fiery fare set off the smoke detector which turned on the sprinklers.

Everyone at the table runs for cover as the flames turn to a massive plume of smoke. One of the patrons is captured on video hysterically laughing as he runs away.

"As we were closing our tab, our waiter came out and offered one last 'fire show' for us before we left. The rest is, how they say, history!'" Hughes told the Daily Mail.
