Authorities charge 6th person in AC Expressway shootout

EGG HARBOR TWP, NJ (WTXF) - New Jersey State Police say they have charged a 6th person in connection with a shootout on the AC Expressway last month. 

Detectives had located the black pickup truck associated with the shooting in Pleasantville two days after the shooting and later executed a search warrant on the vehicle. State police say blood obtained from the inside of the truck was a CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) hit with previously obtained samples from Demosthene, who had taken himself to a Philadelphia hospital soon after the shooting with a bullet wound to his arm. According to investigators, the DNA hit gave detectives evidence to place him in the truck, which witnesses saw as one of three vehicles engaged in the exchange of gunfire.

On Tuesday, September 13, authorities located Demosthene at a residence on Willard Avenue.

State police say he was arrested without incident and transported to NJSP Galloway Station where he was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to possess a firearm. Demosthene was then transported to Atlantic Regional Medical Center to be treated for an infection on his right arm from the gunshot he sustained in the shooting. After being treated, he was lodged at the Atlantic County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Last month, troopers charged five people with weapons offenses, including Anthony Hicks, who was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.

The four occupants of the Expedition have been charged and identified as Lenardo Caro, 24, Yahshaun Stukes-Williams, 19, Shaun Stukes, 38, and a 16-year-old male.  Stukes-Williams and Stukes remain hospitalized. All four are facing a number of weapons charges.
