Worldwide Facebook outages reported

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Users in several countries were reporting problems with Facebook on Saturday.  Other users said that Facebook's Instagram platform was also down.

The sites were not loading for many users.  Others reported not being able to "like" or comment on posts on the social media giant.

The site http://downdetector.com/status/facebook saw a spike in outages reported.  There were reports in the United States, England, Japan and several other countries around the world.

One user posted a message on Twitter with a screenshot from Facebook saying the site was down for "required maintenance."

Users reported Facebook services started returning about an hour after the outage began.

Saturday's outage come three days after another widespread outage.  It was unclear what caused that incident.
