East Side apartment fire

NEW YORK - Firefighters battled a fire that broke out inside an apartment in a high-rise building on the East Side of Manhattan. Dozens of firefighters and police officers responded to 45 Sutton Place South, at East 54th Street Tuesday afternoon. The FDNY said one person was found dead after the fire, which was contained to an apartment on the 14th floor.

The NYPD said the victim was a 66-year-old woman. Medics pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating.
