Drug raids in Atlantic City area

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — Authorities have charged 41 people in what they called a significant heroin and cocaine trafficking operation in the Atlantic City area.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced Friday that 19 people were arrested Thursday after a yearlong investigation, while investigators are still looking for 22 others who are charged.

Investigators say they seized more than 12,000 bags of heroin in raids Thursday, along with suspected fentanyl, handguns, 11 cars and nearly $74,000 in cash.

Diaab Siddiq, 47, of Atlantic City, and Ameer Stephens, 36, of Galloway Township, were charged as leaders of a narcotics trafficking network. It wasn't clear if either had attorneys to comment on their behalf.
