Man accused of operating drone while driving car

A Long Island man is accused of using a drone to record footage of his Corvette as he was driving the car.

Suffolk County police say that Antonio Ariza, 47, of North Babylon was apparently operating the drone from his vehicle on the Robert Moses Causeway Bridge on Tuesday afternoon.

A Marine Bureau officer was on the double span bridge about 1:15 p.m.when he saw a 2017 Chevrolet Corvette only traveling about 15 miles per hour across the span.  The car then stopped in the right lane.  A passenger got out and ran into the road to retrieve a drone that had been flying overhead.

The officer had Ariza drive off over the bridge and then issued him summonses for impeding traffic and for stopping on a state highway.

It was not known if either the drone or car were Christmas gifts.
