Poofa, a six-year-old Golden Doodle, was pulled to safety from an abandoned cesspool in Kings Park, Long Island Tuesday night.

Poofa's owner, Boris Avezov of Bellmore, was waiting for children outside the Superior Ice Rink on Indian Head Road when Poofa pulled away from the leash to chase after a rabbit, said Suffolk County Police.

Poofa then fell into the 16-foot sewage container behind the ice rink.

He remained there for about an hour until Emergency Services personnel, using a sked stretcher and mechanical pulley system, were able to lower it to Poofa and pull him out.

The dog was doing fine after the incident, said police.
