Doctor dragged off United flight reaches settlement with airline

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Dr. David Dao, the man who was forcibly dragged out of his seat and off a plane, has settled with United Airlines.

United spokesman Jonathan Guerin sent the following statement to Fox News Thursday afternoon:

"We are pleased to report that United and Dr. Dao have reached an amicable resolution of the unfortunate incident that occurred aboard flight 3411. We look forward to implementing the improvements we have announced, which will put our customers at the center of everything we do."

An attorney for Dr. David Dao, the 69-year-old internist, said he suffered a concussion, broken nose and lost his two front teeth.

"For a long time, airlines like United have bullied us," said attorney Thomas Demetrio. "Will there be a lawsuit? Yeah, probably. He told me that being dragged down the aisle was more horrifying ... than what he experienced in leaving Vietnam."

"What happened to my dad should not happen to any human being regardless of circumstances," said Dao's daughter, Crystal Pepper at the same news conference last week.

United's CEO at first criticized the passenger.  Oscar Munoz later issued a more contrite statement after being slammed on social media.
