Cuomo honors New Yorker who gave shirt to homeless man

- During his State of the State address, Gov. Andrew Cuomo paid tribute to a New Yorker who helped a homeless man on the subway. Video of Joey Resto giving the homeless man his shirt went viral. Resto was a guest at the speech Wednesday.

"New Yorkers are troubled by the homeless problem. Why? Because we are a caring, loving people. We are joined today by Joey Resto who was in the news this week for literally giving his shirt off his back and the hat off his head to a shirtless, shivering homeless man in the subway," Cuomo said. "Let's give Joey Resto a big round of applause for being a good Samaritan. Raise your hand, Joey! Raise your hand. There he is."

Resto stood up and waved at the crowd, which cheered and clapped for him.

"This is New York. This is New York," the governor said. "And we are New Yorkers and we will not allow people to dwell in the gutter like garbage."

Resto told his story to Good Day New York.
