Cops urge parents to look up sex offenders on Halloween

You are probably preparing your children for trick-or-treating with flashlights and will check their candy when they get home but are you checking what doors they go to?

The New Jersey State Police is urging parents to check a sex offender registry before their children go out tonigh.

There are approximately 3,800 registered sex offenders in New Jersey.

The OffenderWatch website is a mapping and notification service that informs citizens of the location of registered sex offenders.

The state says you can sign up to receive free email notifications if an offender moves within a specified radius of any address you register.

The online services if maintained by the New Jersey State Police.
