NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - It already feels like summer, especially with a trip to the Coney Island Brewery in Brooklyn.
Brewery operations manager Chris Adams and the team at the Coney Island Brewing Company brew each pint with hometown pride. The brewery sits adjacent to MCU Park on Surf Avenue and is now open for its first full summer season
About two years ago, the team took over the name from the former owners and created 25 beers. (A subsidiary of Boston Beer Company, the maker of Sam Adams, owns Coney Island Brewing Company.)
Among the beers are an imperial stout and the Mermaid Pilsner, an ode to the Mermaid Parade that takes place in Coney Island.
But the Hard Root Beer put the Coney Island Brewery on the national map. Adams says almost instantly people all across the country were asking for it.
The latest creation is in true Coney Island fashion: Cotton Candy Kölsh, which contains a little bit of strawberry puree.
This Saturday's Cotton Candy Festival is a celebration of new and classic Coney Island flavors.
