NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater mistakenly sent out an email warning about an active shooter on campus. It happened Sunday afternoon.
"There is an active threat to life safety on campus, RUN, HIDE, FIGHT!," read an email to students, according to local reports. Seven minutes later the school sent out anther message saying there was no threat and blamed it on a "technical issue.",
School officials apologized on the school's website: "We apologize for any undo stress this may have caused," university police Chief Matt Kiederlen said in a statement. "We will continue to investigate what happened and provide further information as it becomes available."
