'Cancer thriver' ready to run New York City Marathon

After overcoming a fierce battle with breast cancer, Tish Sherwood, 42, is now making great strides.

Tish is running the New York City Marathon this Sunday. It's an adventure she never could have imagined conquering two years ago when she was diagnosed. She says she was never a runner before she decided to tackle the challenge.

Dr. Sharon Rosenbaum Smith, from Mount Sinai West, had faith in her brave patient. She says Tish is a positive person who takes everything head on.

Tish says her two young sons, Elvis and Dexter, motivate her to keep going the extra mile. She says she doesn't like the term "cancer survivor." She says "we are all survivors." She prefers the term "cancer thriver."
