Large section of facade falls from East Village building

Building inspectors are on scene Thursday at an apartment building in Manhattan's East Village where several bricks came crashing down.

A 10-foot-by-10 foot section of the facade at 115 E. Ninth St. landed mostly on a scaffold on 3rd Ave.

Officials say the building has 17 open violations related to the facade.

Third Ave. remained closed between 9th and 10th Streets as a precaution.

There were no injuries reported.
