Boyfriend arrested in brutal murder of pregnant NYC woman

Police have arrested the boyfriend of a pregnant woman who was brutally murdered in the entrance of her Queens apartment building.

Jennifer Irigoyen, 35, was found stabbed in the neck and stomach inside the vestibule of her Myrtle Ave. building at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019.

Her boyfriend, 48-year-old Anthony Hobson has been arrested and charged with murder, tampering with evidence, abortion, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the crime.

Witnesses say that Hobson dragged the screaming victim out of her apartment and down the stairs and then stabbed her repeatedly as she pleaded to protect the unborn child.

Irigoyen, who was 14-weeks pregnant, was rushed to Wyckoff Hospital after the attack but doctors were not able to save her or the baby.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown says Hobson showed "no mercy and no regard for human life."

An attorney for Hobson did not return a call seeking comment.  Hobson faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

In a GoFundMe page set up by the family Irigoyen was described as:  "a graceful salsa dancer and teacher, classical pianist, enjoyed interior design, and followed her passion in becoming a real estate agent.

Irigoyen had sold homes for Exit Realty One for about three years and had a son from a previous relationship.

Her family said:  "We cannot Fathom the fear and anguish that she must have felt during her final moments. It is a thought that continues to chip away at our hearts. She did not deserve this. She deserved to be happy. She deserved to be loved. She deserved to raise her son. We want to see justice served and hope that Jenny’s passing influences others to speak up, leave, report, and diminish domestic abuse from their own lives."
