Boy injured when dust devil lifts him 10 feet

A young boy was injured in China when he was swept off the ground by a severe dust storm.

The freak storms are called dust devils. They’re tornado-like cyclones of whirling dust spiraling more than 10 feet into the sky.

Three dust devils hit during an elementary school sports event, in rapid succession, in China's Gansu Province.

Teachers raced to evacuate the students, but the third dust devil whipped a student nearly 10 feet into the air.

The boy suffered minor head injuries when he fell to the ground. He was being treated at a local hospital.
