Boy, 14, stabbed on way to school in New Rochelle

A 14-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest on his way to school Wednesday in New Rochelle, New York, said police.

The teen approached a crossing guard at about 8:23 a.m. with a stab wound. The guard contacted 911.

Emergency crews rushed the boy to a local hospital where he was expected to recover.

A 13-year-old male student was taken into custody.

No weapon was recovered, added police.

It is not clear what the motivation was for the assault. An investigation is underway.
