A boat carrying several people capsized in the story weather on Jamaica Bay Friday night, authorities said. Firefighters and police officers responded to the scene near Floyd Bennet Field, which is coincidentally the home of the NYPD Aviation Unit. The FDNY said five people have been found; two are in very serious condition, two suffered minor injuries, and one person is being treated at the scene.

Two people made it to shore on their own, an NYPD vessel rescued one person from the capsized boat, police officers on the shoreline helped one person out, and an FDNY vessel pulled a fifth person from the water.
