A baby baboon is the latest addition to the Prospect Park Zoo. The male Hamadryas baboon is on view to the public. Kaia, a 12-year-old female, gave birth born Oct. 22. It is her second birth at the zoo.

"Hamadryas baboons are native to northeastern Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. They are large, ground-dwelling primates that are found in rocky areas and cliffs," according to the Wildlife Conservation Society, which runs the zoo. "They are highly social and spend much of their time grooming one another, a behavior that maintains and reinforces social bonds within the troop."
