Attack on Jewish boy, 9, investigated as hate crime

The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating an assault on a Hasidic Jewish boy in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The boy, 9, was walking home on Sunday at about 6 p.m. when a stranger, described by police as a black teenager, came up and punched him several times in the face.  It was unknown if the attacker said anything to the victim.

The assault occurred at Throop Ave. and Walton St. The suspect ran off after the attack.  The boy refused medical attention at the scene.

The suspect is described by police as a male, black, with light complexion. He is 14 to 18-years-old, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with a medium build and weighing 150 lbs.

He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with a black patch on the sleeve, dark colored jeans and white sneakers.
