Better representation of various hair colors and styles -- including no hair-- and new smiley faces with more expressions are among the new emojis announced by Apple ahead of World Emoji Day.

July 17, 2018 marks the fourth year the small digital image used to express an idea or emotion is celebrated around the globe.

Apple says more than 70 emojis will be released later this year in a free IOS update to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.

"Joining the growing list of animals represented on the emoji keyboard are beautifully designed characters for the kangaroo, peacock, parrot and lobster, with the addition of new food emoji for mango, lettuce, cupcake, moon cake and other popular items," according to an Apple press release.

Some of the new faces will include a cold face, party face, pleading face and a face with hearts.
