Suspect in Amber Alert case was previously deported

CONNECTICUT (FOX 5 NY) - A Connecticut man accused of killing his girlfriend and was the subject of an Amber Alert after taking off with his daughter was in the country illegally after being previously deported.

An ICE spokesman said that Oscar Obedio Hernandez, 39, was deported on Nov. 27, 2013. He had felony convictions for assault and threatening, as well as several misdemeanor convictions. ICE said it placed an immigration detainer with the Bridgeport Police Department. It is unclear when the El Salvador man returned to the United States.

The Amber Alert for Aylin Sofia Hernandez, 6, of Bridgeport, Conn., was canceled after her father, Hernandez, was apprehended. She was placed in the custody of Pennsylvania State Police.

Early Friday morning, Connecticut State Police issued the alert saying Aylin was in "imminent danger."

She was believed to be traveling in a vehicle operated by her father who is a suspect in a double stabbing. One of the victims, Aylin's mother, was killed, said Bridgeport Police.

The vehicle was an Enterprise rental car, 2017 gray Hyundai Sonata with CT license plates AG91925.

Aylin and Oscar Hernandez were believed to be in the New York City area after fleeing the home on Greenwood Street where the stabbings occurred.

Initially they were believed to be headed to locations in the Bronx.  The circumstances surrounding his arrest in Pennsylvania were not clear.
