NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - "Flight from Hell" doesn't even begin to describe what passengers said they went through on a trip from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to New York. One couple said they honestly thought they would never see their loved ones again.
Maribel Reyes and Leonard Garcia say that after more than 24 hours of traveling, they finally landed at their destination: JFK Airport. It's normally a 3 1/2 hour flight.
Their flight from the Dominican Republic was scheduled to land at JFK Monday. Passengers say icy conditions on the runway at JFK forced their plane to circle in a holding pattern. The plane then had to land in New Hampshire because it was running low on fuel.
Then Tuesday morning, the flight tried again to fly to New York but had to be diverted to Boston due to severe turbulence.
One passenger says it was like being in a blender and that it felt like the plane was going to break in half. Another passenger says people were crying out of fear.
Passengers told say Delta gave them air miles in exchange for the inconvenience, but many say they're doubtful they'll ever fly the airline again.
One passenger said he and his partner were so scared they took the train from Boston instead of flying.
Fox 5 reached out to Delta for comment but had not heard back as of Tuesday night.
