ATLANTA - You may think animals would want to go into hibernation like us when it's this cold outside--but there are actually some that LOVE this weather! And that means they are going to be more active during the winter.
Did you know pandas and red pandas actually prefer the cold? Even the Chilean flamingos are cold-tolerant. Other ones you can see milling about in the nippy temps are lions, elephants, tigers, and most birds. After checking them out, you may want to head indoors to 'defrost' a bit with The Amphibian and Reptile Experience, where it's warm and dry!
On the flip side, primates including gorillas, orangutans, monkeys, and lemurs will not be outside when it's 50 degrees or below. Kangaroos aren't even allowed outside if it's below 30 degrees!
So bundle up and plan a fun and chilly trip to Zoo Atlanta because there are plenty of animals out and about waiting for you!
