New music from Dr. Dre

Dr. Dre has a new album.

It's been 16 years since Dr. Dre's last album, so of course the release of his new record called "Compton" is getting a lot of attention and offering new perspective into the life of one of hip hops most legendary and successful figures. Also, "Straight Outta Compton" is a new biopic about his group N.W.A. in the 1980s and 1990s.

Vibe Magazine Editor in Chief Datwon Thomas says Dr. Dre's hip hop relevance is unparalleled. So of course, he has kept himself busy in between albums. He has produced music from 50 Cent, the Game, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and more.

And he has evolved along the way, become an entrepreneur.

With "Compton," Dr. Dre is telling his story in a new way. Throughout the album, Dr. Dre introduces us to new artists including King Mez and Anderson Paak but he also sticks with some classics including Snoop Dogg.

"Straight Outta Compton" opens in theaters on August 14 and "Compton" the album is available now. Dr. Dre just announced that he will actually be donating all of his artist royalties from this album to a performing arts and entertainment facility for children in Compton, so his whole story is really coming full circle.
