5-cent hot dogs at Coney Island's Nathan's Famous

Nathan's Famous on Coney Island is going retro with its prices for a few hours later this month to celebrate its 100th anniversary.

The original restaurant location at Surf Avenue and Stillwell will sell hot dogs for 5 cents -- the original price -- from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 28, 2016. You can get two hot dogs at that price and you even get a commemorative certificate.

A man named Nathan Handweker founded the original Nathan's as a hot dog stand in Coney Island in 1916. These days, the flagship Nathan's Famous location is still there, but the brand also has franchises all over the world and sells products at retail.

The Nathan's hot dog eating contest takes place in Coney Island every July 4.
