Call him Mr. Hoff. David Hasselhoff -- of Knight Rider and Baywatch fame -- appears to have shortened his name to David Hoff. At least that is what he implies in a short video posted to YouTube. [Scroll down to watch.]

"I've been wanting to drop the hassle from my life for years," he says in the video. "Now I have made it official: David Hoff." In the video -- which is titled David Hoff - Goodbye David Hasselhoff -- he points to a framed document that reads "Certificate of Name Change."

It is unclear if this might be a prank, a joke, or a performance.

But if it is genuine, it is fitting because his nickname has been "The Hoff" for years, anyway.
