Masked man in tights looks for bad guys

A masked man in tights, who only goes by the name Guardian Shield, is patrolling apartment complexes in Beaverton, Oregon.

"I make sure no one is breaking into cars, no one's fighting, people are getting home to their families after a long day of work," the man says.

Guardian Shield says he worked for nine years to become a "superhero".

He has a shield that is a real law enforcement ballistic shield that cost him a "pretty penny".

He also carries pepper spray, a stun gun, a baton, a flashlight, a GoPro camera and a first aid kit.

"I want to be taken seriously. Everything I do, I try to be legit as much as possible," he says.

He mainly walks parking lots looking for anything suspicious.

"You gotta go where the people are. You feel a little skittish at first, like I don't know if I should interact with certain people but that's why you're out here to help people and let them know you're out here," he says.

So far, he says, interactions with police has been positive.
