Four senior New York City police officials have been reassigned amid a corruption probe.

Commissioner William Bratton said Thursday police and federal investigators will "follow the leads wherever they take us."

Bratton said three deputy chiefs and a deputy inspector were transferred. Two of those also were placed on desk duty as part of the two-year-old inquiry.

The officers under investigation have been identified as Deputy Chief Michael Harrington, Deputy Inspector James Grant, Deputy Chief David Colon and Deputy Chief Eric Rodriguez.

Two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday that federal investigators have questioned nearly two dozen officers. They said agents are looking into whether officers took free trips, meals or other perks.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case.

Bratton said investigators are examining whether conflict-of-interest rules, guidelines or laws were broken.
