NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Police on Long Island arrested a woman after she left a child in a running car outside of a sandwich shop and the car was stolen.
Suffolk County Police say that Gail Solomon went into a Subway sandwich shop on Union Blvd. in Bay Shore at about 8 a.m. Her 4-month-old niece was in the backseat of the unlocked car.
Two people jumped into the car and took off. the car was abandoned a short time later with the unharmed baby still inside.
Solomon, 43, of Bay Shore, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Central Islip.
The people who stole the car have not been arrested.
