Police investigate possible anti-gay beating

- A teenager from Long Island says he was attacked by a fraternity member at Penn State when he revealed he was gay.

The revelation has lead to an outpouring of success and an investigation by campus police

John Mateer, 19, says he was attacked Sunday when he was visiting the campus:  "got the living s*** kicked out of me. The brother admitted that he hated gays. Proceeded to kick the s*** out of me."

In another Twitter post he said:  "I am bleeding on my phone."

Then he posted photos with:  "Don't let a frat guy know that you're gay."  That post was shared more than 13,000 times.

In a statment on Tuesday, the college said:  "Authorities have been in contact with the alleged victim, and it is our sincere hope that he is recovering well. Violence in any form is repulsive and hurtful, and those responsible should and will be held accountable for their actions."

In a follow-up tweet Mateer said:  "Thank you to everyone for all for (sic) your support.  I'm sorry I can't get back to everyone I have a lot of messages.  A police report was filed."

The Wantagh native attends Queens College in the city.
