NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - Three women want to bring the stories back to a community that lost its bookstore.
It's a new chapter for Vina Castillo and her two friends. The three met while working at a Barnes & Noble in Forest Hills, Queens, but when it closed at the end of last year along with several others in Bayside and Fresh Meadows it dawned on them that there aren't many book stores left in Queens.
So they launched the let's bring a book shop back to Queens campaign on Kickstarter - with the goal of raising $70,000. In just under a month they're up to a little more than $23,000.
Based on who we talked to, they certainly have the support in Forest Hills.
The Kickstarter campaign ends in June. If they raise all the money they need, the women plan to open their bookstore somewhere in Queens by November.
