Vacationing family finds shark out of water - for second time

- A man made a strange find during his jog in a neighborhood near Virginia Beach, VA this week.

An 18-inch hammerhead shark was lying on the side of the road, seemingly from out of nowhere.

The man, visiting with family from Fort Wayne, Indiana, took the shark back to his Aunt Sue's house. It was an interesting find, but even more interesting - it's not the first time a similarly-sized shark has been discovered by this family.

"You don't exactly expect to see sharks on land," David Lee commented. "I thought, 'Well, Aunt Sue will kill me if I don't bring it back."

Sue Bowser says two years ago, on their annual trip to the beach town, David's 7-year-old son, Alex Lee found a dogfish shark that had landed in Bowser's back yard - likely dropped by a bird that lost its grip.

The interest in that story from neighbors and even strangers is why Bowser saved that shark in her freezer. Now the newly-found hammerhead is in the freezer, too. Alongside Sue's homemade applesauce.

"There's a lot of people that really want to see it. I've had people, like the mail person, different people just wanted to come by. They said "Sue, do you still have that shark?' and I said, 'I do!'" Bowser explained.

David Lee says if this trend keeps up, he'll find a great white in the grass in the next couple of years.
